Thoughts to Inspire Action
A voice of reason in the local community, broadcaster and columnist John Fink brings us the best of his popular feature “Think About It”—twenty years of bright ideas for 21st century Hawai‘i. From suggestions and commentary on politics and local issues such as education, the tourist economy and homelessness to musings on sociology, philosophy and spirituality, Fink’s book offers short, easily digestible points of discussion, intended to help readers realize that we all can—and should—strive to make a positive impact in some way.
John Fink is a former sportscaster and served as general manager of the KHNL and KFVE television stations for more than thirty years. During his tenure, he filmed and aired more than 2,000 “Think About It” ninety-second editorials, nearly 200 of which are included in his book. Fink will begin offering motivational seminars in Spring 2020, designed to inspire change and positive action. Now retired from the television industry, he currently writes a column, “Think About It,” for MidWeek.
“Think About It says what so many think, but never say.” —Ben Cayetano, Governor of Hawai‘i, 1994-2002
“John Fink's reflections are a breath of fresh air amid the chaos of negative and often violent news. These insightful anecdotes shine a light on people who make a difference in small but meaningful ways. His use of humor and classic rock references give us something to not only think about—but also to smile about!” —Bernadette Baraquio, producer, director, broadcast journalist
“John's editorials are a call to action—and easy for anyone to digest. His topics are appropriate and well thought out. Think about it!” —Robert Harrison, chairman and CEO, First Hawaiian Bank
“What I appreciate is that John expresses opinions as a jumping-off point for further discussion—a refreshing approach compared to most of today's 'discussion.' Thinking. What a concept!” —Andy Bumatai, comedian, actor, TV host
“I'm a big fan!” —Dave Shoji, former head coach, Rainbow Wahine volleyball
